In response to social media’s growing influence on society, the School of Information Studies and College of Visual and Performing Arts are setting students to work on the problem of developing new ways for businesses to communicate internally as well as connect with their clientele through interactive, user-driven information technologies.

Brown, associate professor in the School of Architecture, will receive the 2010 University Scholar/Teacher of the Year Award.

Syracuse University Alumnus Brandon Steiner ‘81, the founder and chairman of Steiner Sports Marketing, will speak at SU on April 6. The free event will begin at 7 p.m. in Crouse Hinds Hall, Room 010, and will include a book signing of Steiner’s “The Business Playbook–Leadership Lessons from the World of Sports” (Entrepreneur Press, 2003).

Pete Blackshaw, executive vice president of digital strategic services for Nielsen, will visit Syracuse University’s S.I.
