Innovation Orange: Associate Professor Jay Henderson
Associate Professor Jay Henderson, a researcher with the Syracuse Biomaterials Institute and faculty member in the department of biomedical and chemical engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science, conducts research pertaining to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The results of his work and that of his students could one day provide medical professionals and patients with the option of a cast located not on top of the skin, but beneath it.
Henderson’s research is the first to be featured in a series called Innovation Orange. Innovation Orange will highlight the interesting and important research and creative work conducted by Syracuse University faculty. “We are thrilled to have an opportunity via this platform to draw attention to the ideas, insights, and inspiration that our faculty bring to the University,” notes LaVonda N. Reed, associate provost for faculty affairs and professor in the College of Law. “Our faculty are creatively pushing the boundaries of how we know, understand and impact the world around us.”

Innovation Orange aims to highlight the insights and ideas pursued by exceptional faculty, to increase campuswide awareness of faculty research and creative work, and draw attention to student involvement in shaping it.
Videos will also highlight faculty collaboration and demonstrate connections between scholarship work and current themes in the nation and world. Importantly, each installment will elaborate on the intricate relationship between faculty scholarship and creating a superior student experience.
