More than 200 scholars and students from around the world will descend on the Syracuse University campus for the 17th biennial Workshop and International Conference on Representations of Algebras (ICRA).
For the first time in ICRA history, meetings will take place on American soil. The Department of Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences will host the workshop (Aug. 10-13), featuring six speakers, followed by the conference (Aug. 15-19), with 19 plenary speakers and parallel sessions.
Karin Ruhlandt, dean of A&S and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry, will deliver the conference’s opening remarks on Monday, Aug. 15, at 9 a.m. in the Life Sciences Complex Auditorium (room 001).

“This is a major coup for Syracuse,” says Leuschke, who is co-organizing ICRA with professors Mark Kleiner and Dan Zacharia. “ICRA is the most important international meeting on representation theory of algebras. In addition to featuring presentations by some of today’s most distinguished mathematicians, ICRA promotes interactions among researchers in different areas of algebra.”
Workshop speakers are professors Claire Amiot and Michel Brion (Fourier Institute, France), Markus Linckelmann (City University London, U.K.), Robert Marsh (University of Leeds, U.K.), Julia Pevtsova (University of Washington) and Ryo Takahashi (Nagoya University, Japan).

Plenary speakers include Srikanth Iyengar (University of Utah), Bernard Leclerc (University of Caen, France), Steven Sam (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Catharina Stroppel (University of Bonn, Germany), Hugh Thomas (University of Quebec at Montreal) and Antoine Touzé (Lille University of Science and Technology, France). The remaining speakers will be announced at the beginning of the conference.
Among the topics that ICRA is covering are representations of quivers, Auslander-Reiten theory, tilting theory, homological properties of finite-dimensional algebras, cluster algebras and categories, group representation theory, vector bundles on weighted projective spaces, preprojective algebras and applications of geometry to representation theory.
