Campus Summer Road Construction Update

Thursday, June 18, 2015, By Keith Kobland
Share

One road opens, while another will be closed as part of summertime roadwork, which continues around campus. Work on College Place is nearing completion, with the road reopening Monday, June 22. Once College Place reopens, Euclid Avenue from Comstock Avenue to College Place will be closed through Aug. 7.

South Crouse Drive is closed from University Place to the Quad 1 North Parking Lot to allow for underground utility improvements. Access to the Quad 1 Parking Lot is via Forestry Drive to the portion of South Crouse that runs between Archbold Gym and the Carrier Dome. That stretch of roadway, which is typically one way, has been configured to allow for two-way traffic during the course of the project. This closure is anticipated to be in place until Aug. 7.

Also, College Place has been closed to allow for a steam line repair. This closure will remain in place until June 26.

The temporary closure of College Place also means changes to bus routes on campus. The main transit hub, located in front of Sims Hall, has been relocated to Comstock Avenue (southbound), mid-block between Euclid Avenue and University Place (in front of the Life Science Complex.) All Centro transit shuttles will operate this detour.

This includes:

#44 Manley
#344 South Campus
#443 Connective Corridor
#240 Nob Hill
#530 Westcott
#340 Drumlins
All city service

The #143 Quad Shuttle will not operate to the Quad during this construction period. To avoid walking up a hill, it is suggested that customers utilize this shuttle to Sims Drive and specifically the shelter near Carnegie Library, which is level with the Quad.

The summer route for the #143 Quad Shuttle

From Irving Garage to Ostrom Avenue: Continue Irving Avenue to a right on East Raynor Avenue, right on Henry Street, right on Van Buren Street, left on Irving Avenue, right on University Place, left on Comstock Avenue, right on Adams Street and right on Ostrom Avenue.

From Ostrom Avenue to Irving Garage: Continue Ostrom Avenue to a right on University Place, left on Comstock Avenue, right on Euclid Avenue, continuing through campus on Sims Drive and Forestry Drive, then left on East Raynor Avenue, right on Henry Street, right on Van Buren Street, right on Irving Avenue to the Irving Garage shuttle stop.

Once College Place reopens, Euclid Avenue will be closed from June 26 to Aug. 7 to allow for the reconstruction of the road, replacement of the water main and widening of the road to add a bike lane.
