SU Showcase 2012 fellows selected
Eight fellows will be recognized and have their sustainability videos screened during SU Showcase on Wednesday, April 18, starting at 3:30 p.m. in Goldstein Auditorium, Schine Student Center.
Representing both individual and team efforts, the videos were selected from the SU Showcase Video Competition entries. The competition’s two winning videos will be announced following the screenings. One $250 prize will be awarded per winning entry.
“These eight videos really stood out among this year’s submissions for their inventiveness, their clarity and their focus on solving serious problems,” says Rachel May, coordinator of sustainability education at SU. “I want to congratulate all the video artists who entered the competition and thank them for their dedication to sustainability.”
SU Showcase for Sustainability 2012, the campuswide celebration of students’ sustainability work and innovative strides toward a green economy, is open to the campus community and the general public.

A proposal to expand the NYS bottle bill by increasing the deposit to 10 cents and covering more types of bottles, thus increasing the incentive to recycle, which in turn would reduce energy use and waste, and improve sustainability.

A proposal for a government policy that issues each child enrolled in public and private school kindergarten classes a reusable water bottle so that children are taught the responsible behavior of refilling with tap water instead of constantly purchasing bottled water.
