Four students in the M.S. in telecommunications and network management program in the School of Information Studies (iSchool) are attending the 2010 Interop Conference and Exhibition in New York City, thanks to the generosity of United Business Media (UBM), publisher of Network Computing Magazine and owner of the Interop, the largest networking convention and trade show. Each of the four students will receive a conference pass, valued at $2,095, and the iSchool will contribute funding for the transportation and two nights of hotel accommodations for the students selected to attend.
The students selected to attend are Anirudh Nagesh, Harshit Kapoor, Lingwen Zhang and Shruti Pravin Worlikar. They will attend the conference from Oct. 20-22 at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.
“Attending the Interop conference gives the students an opportunity to view world-class presentations in a variety of IT topics given by industry experts,” says Mike Fratto, editor of Network Computing. “It’s a good time to explore the exhibition floor to see product demonstrations and learn about the newest technologies.”
Interop, a premier business technology networking conference, will highlight key technologies such as cloud computing, green information technology, storage, information security and mobile businesses, which reduce business cost, increase productivity and help companies flourish.
The students will chronicle their experiences, making special note of products, news and interactions that stood out to them the most. Some of their comments may end up on Network Computing’s web site. They will report back what they learned to the iSchool community during a public presentation, tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5 in Hinds Hall.
UBM is an information technology based advertisement company that aims to enhance technology markets. UBM provides tools and services for all forms of media including print, online and events that stretch beyond traditional advertising.
