SU seeks to be ‘America’s Greenest Campus’

Syracuse University is battling it out with other universities and colleges in the United States to become America’s Greenest Campus. From now until Oct. 5, SU students, faculty, staff and alumni can help by taking the challenge to see which campus can take the most action in support of the environment. The winning college/university will receive $20,000 toward making its campus more eco-friendly.

To participate in America’s Greenest Campus, visit http://climateculture.com/. Climate Culture is one of a growing number of websites where consumers can track their carbon footprints—the amount of carbon dioxide emissions they produce. Carbon dioxide emissions, when released into the atmosphere, are a major contributor to global warming.

The more participants who join with a SYR.EDU e-mail address and are able to make small, positive actions over the course of the challenge, the greater the opportunity for SU to become America’s Greenest Campus.

For more information, contact Melissa Cadwell in SU’s Sustainability Division at 443-9669.
