Syracuse University encourages all benefits-eligible employees to join this year’s SU team for the 2013 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge the evening of Tuesday, June 18, at Onondaga Lake Park. Start time is 6:25 p.m. Participants may run or walk the 3.5-mile course.

Advance registration is required. Registration for SU employees opens today—Wednesday, May 22—and closes at 4 p.m. next Wednesday, May 29. To register or for more information, go to the University Wellness Initiative website at wellness.syr.edu, and click on “Learn more here” under “Registration Open!” and the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge logo.

2013_CC_logo_3CThe University will once again pay half of the $32 per person registration fee for all eligible employees who participate. Each employee participant must pay the other half of the fee—$16—by the deadline of 4 p.m. May 29. Payment may be dropped off (no mail, please) to Sue Torrell-Szarek at the Human Resources office in the Skytop Office Building on South Campus from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Cash, personal checks (payable to SU) and departmental I.D.s will be accepted.

Syracuse University will provide all registered race participants with a free team T-shirt, post-race snacks and drinks, and a gathering place for runners and walkers at the race site. For information on eligibility, registration, race rules, directions and other details, go to SU’s J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge web page at wellness.syr.edu/online-catalog/movement-fitness/jp-morgan-corporate-challenge.

The annual J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge is a competitive race for runners, but also brings together thousands of employees from local businesses and organizations to promote health, wellness and community and to raise money for a good cause. The Corporate Challenge makes a donation each year to a local not-for-profit agency. This year’s recipient is the YMCA of Greater Syracuse.

The Office of Human Resources and the University Wellness Initiative are coordinating efforts for Team SU this year. If you have any questions regarding the event or would like to volunteer, contact Sue Torrell-Szarek at x2099 or email wellness@syr.edu.
