The Syracuse University School of Information Studies will host a Women in Information Technology faculty panel discussion at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Katzer Room, Room 347 of Hinds Hall. The panelists will speak about their personal experiences in the workplace and their educational journeys.
The panel will feature the following WIT iSchool faculty:
• Megan Oakleaf, assistant professor for library and information science;
• Martha Garcia-Murillo, assistant professor and director of the master of science in telecommunications and network management program; and
• Susan Dischiave, professor of practice, who teaches database administration courses.
The panelists will answer questions and provide students with career guidance ideas. The event is being coordinated by the iSchool’s WIT. WIT is a student-led organization dedicated to increasing the participation of women in information technology and to closing the gender gap in the field. The event is free and open to all students, faculty and staff. Sandwiches, chips, cookies and drinks will be provided.
