Work by Carrie Mae Weems, University Artist in Residence, was mentioned in the Philadelphia Inquirer story “MacArthur ‘genius’ artist Carrie Mae Weems on why she’s presenting COVID public art in Philly.” Weems’ latest work highlight, Resist Covid Take 6!, consists of posters and billboards to highlight how Black communities have been disproportionately affected by COVID 19. Weems says that the project is “really about trying to assist saving lives by systematically informing people over and over and over.”
