Faculty and staff are invited to attend two November work life workshops presented by the Office of Human Resources.
The workshop “Family Dynamics: Changing Relationships with Parents, Spouses, and Children” is Thursday, Nov. 1, from noon to 12:45 in 500 Hall of Languages. This facilitated discussion offers family members and caregivers an opportunity to examine the tough edges in their changed relationships. Issues to be discussed include taking on more responsibilities, letting go of expectations, finding time for self-care, and creating balance in life. The workshop will provide both a learning experience and support experience for caregivers. The event is free, but registration is required.
“Together Time vs. Scheduled Activities for Children” is Friday, Nov. 2, from noon to 12:45 p.m. in 500 Hall of Languages. This interactive discussion focuses on the benefits of together time, the effects of over scheduling on a family’s well-being and choosing activities, among other topics. Materials will be shared with participants for making an activity spinner to engage kids in together time activities. The discussion is specifically about children from infants through age 12. Registration is online.
Two other programs are coming up in December: “Eldercare workshop: How to Have the Difficult Conversations” is Friday, Dec. 6, from noon to 12:45 p.m. in the Peter Graham Scholarly Commons, 114 E.S. Bird Library. The webinar “Raising Resilient Children” is Friday, Dec. 7, from noon to 1 p.m.
