Winter Break/Green Days Information
Offices and services that will be open on a reduced schedule during Green Days/Winter Break:
ADVANCEMENT AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
Advancement Services will have limited staff working Dec. 26, 2017 through Jan. 2, 2018, to process year-end gifts.
Staff from athletic communications, administration, marketing, sports medicine, equipment, track and field, women’s basketball, men’s basketball and women’s lacrosse will be in sporadically from Dec. 23, 2017 to Jan. 2, 2018. The athletic department complex will not be open to the public during this time (except designated times Dec. 27-29 when camps are taking place).
Men’s basketball games will be held in the Carrier Dome on Dec. 27 and 31, 2017. The box office schedule is as follows:
- Saturday, Dec. 23 to Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017—closed
- Wednesday, Dec. 27—open at 10 a.m. (SU vs. Eastern Michigan, 7 p.m.)
- Thursday, Dec. 28 and Friday, Dec. 29, 2017—10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017—closed
- Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017—open at 2 p.m. (SU vs. Virginia Tech, 6 p.m.)
- Monday, Jan. 1 and Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018—closed
- Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018—resume normal business hours at 8:30 a.m.
The Bookstore’s online store will be available for customer orders at http://bookweb.syr.edu. Orders received after Dec. 21, 2017 will be processed beginning Jan. 3, 2018.
Student account payments may be made by credit or debit card or via EFT through MySlice. Information about payment options may be found here: http://bursar.syr.edu/make-a-payment/.

CAMPUS BUS SHUTTLE
Beginning Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, campus shuttle service will operate on a reduced schedule until the conclusion of Winter Break. For schedule updates, visit http://parking.syr.edu. If a matter is urgent, on-call staff can be contacted through the Department of Public Safety at 315.443.2224.
In the event of a mental health emergency during the Winter Break/Green Days, or if there is a need to contact a member of the Sexual and Relationship Response Team, 24-hour services remain available. These services can be accessed by calling 315.443.4715
Custodial Services will be provided, on a reduced basis, in academic and administrative buildings. If assistance is needed, call 315.443.1234.
Deliveries and pick up will be provided to departments requesting service. Arrangements for service can be requested by contacting Materials Distribution at 315.443.1940
DELIVERIES (UPS and FedEx)
The Purchasing Department, based on department-submitted instructions, will make arrangements for UPS and FedEx deliveries to those departments. Departments for which staff will be working in locked buildings will need to contact the Purchasing Department to coordinate delivery instructions. If your department has a specific request pertaining to UPS or FedEx deliveries, contact Sarah Michaels in Purchasing at 315.443.2281 or firstname.lastname@example.org to make delivery arrangements. Please provide the days that the office will be staffed, the normal delivery location and the temporary delivery location.
DISABILITY BENEFITS AND WORKERS’ COMPENSATION BENEFIT PAYMENTS
Disability benefits checks will be processed in advance. All Disability benefits checks will be processed through the payroll system, for those that don’t use the direct deposit option checks will be mailed to the employee’s home address by the Payroll Department during the week of Dec. 25, 2017. For assistance with Workers’ Compensation checks, please contact our third party administrator, PMA, at 1.888.476.2669. In anticipation of Green Days, Disbursements will not be processing payments after Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017. The last payment run will be the night of Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 for distribution and handling on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017. After Thursday, normal processing will not resume until Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018.
To ensure timeliness of payments your department may have, please make appropriate arrangements to have requests in the Disbursements Department on or before 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017. Requests will be processed in the order in which they are received.
Types of payments to consider for planning purposes…
- Time-sensitive requisitions/invoices
- Cash advances for travel scheduled at the end of December 2017
- Clearing any outstanding cash advances for travel on or before the week of Dec.11, 2017
- Travel vouchers for month of December
- Wire transfers – foreign and domestic
Credit card reconciliations for the Dec. 4, 2017 statement date should be completed and submitted to Disbursements by Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017.

The golf shop will close on Saturday, Dec. 23, and remain closed through Jan. 7, 2018. The shop will re-open on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY SERVICES
The Environmental Health and Safety Services Office will have on-call staff available to assist in the event of an environmental incident, chemical spill, radiation incident, biological materials incident, petroleum spill, etc., during the Green Days period. Environmental Health’s on-call staff can be contacted through the Department of Public Safety at 315.443.2224.

FIRE AND LIFE SAFETY SERVICES
Fire and Life Safety Services will be staffed on campus each Green Day from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will provide services as necessary. If Fire and Life Safety Services assistance is needed, call 315.443.5474 or the Department of Public Safety at 315.443.2224.

HOUSING, MEAL PLAN AND I.D. CARD SERVICE CENTERS
Staff will monitor the Housing email account and will respond to emergency concerns only. If you have an emergency that requires immediate attention, contact the Department of Public Safety at 315.443.2224.
On Dec. 27, 28 and 29, 2017, the office will be available to employees through the HR Service Center by calling and leaving a message at 315.443.4042, or by email at email@example.com. This voice and email service will be checked twice daily on Green Days, and emergencies will be addressed promptly.
ITS will be monitoring computing and network services throughout the Winter Break and will respond appropriately if system-wide problems occur. All times shown below are Eastern Time.
