The Red House Arts Center and the Syracuse International Film Festival will open their new series “Wine, Women & Film” on Sept. 9.

SYRFILMFEST has announced its lineup of special event programming for October.

Using the arts as its tool, the Near Westside Initiative has commissioned internationally known artist Steve Powers to create a public art project to visually disrupt a physical barrier at the most critical intersection of the Connective Corridor and Near Westside.

The Summer Festival Orchestra will perform a free public concert at Syracuse University on Monday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Goldstein Auditorium in the Schine Student Center. The following works will be performed: Berlioz Roman Carnival Overture, Shostakovich Prelude in E flat minor, and Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4.

The Orange Orators Toastmasters Club, sponsored by Syracuse University’s Office of Human Resources, has earned the President’s Distinguished Award, Toastmasters International’s highest honor.

The Syracuse University South Side Initiative and the Southside Community Coalition are sponsoring the fourth annual South Side Film Festival in July. Other sponsors of the event include KeyBank and Visual Technologies.
