Five art education faculty and graduate students from SU have been selected to present at the 2010 National Art Education Association’s national convention.

Tom Sheehan, first-prize winner of the 2009 Arthur Poister Organ Competition, will present an organ recital Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 8 p.m.

Dan Huston will deliver the talk “Mindful Communication and Emotional Intelligence: Opening Our Minds and Our Hearts to Improve Communication, Effectiveness and Well-Being” on Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Janis Potter, one of America’s most in-demand solo marimba artists, will present a master class on Tuesday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Gregory Wood, a member of the strings faculty in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), will present a violoncello recital Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m.

Massimo Vignelli, one of the most recognized and internationally acclaimed Modernist designers, will speak on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 5:30-7 p.m. as part of “Design is One,” the fall theme of the Golden Mean Series.

Recommended for ages 13 and up, “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” runs Oct. 14-Nov. 1.

The Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music will celebrate the 60th birthday season of faculty composer Daniel S. Godfrey with a concert of works by the composer on Friday, Oct. 16.

The Rev. Carla Dietz Carroll ’74 will be the guest preacher for SU’s Protestant Campus Ministry on Oct. 4.

The Interdisciplinary Research Group in the College of Visual and Performing Arts is seeking faculty members from around Syracuse University to participate in a seminar on the theme of “Journeys of Interdisciplinary Observation.”
