Newhouse School Professor Corey Takahashi offers his commentary on the challenge of teaching students who, instead of wanting to be writers or filmmakers, aspire to be online “influencers.”

Grant Reeher, professor of political science and director of the Alan K. Campbell Public Affairs Institute, was interviewed by The Hill for the article “Trump enters pivotal stretch as cabinet hearings begin.”  

“Right now, she has an interesting appeal because there is an attraction to the Hillary side after how she was treated by Trump,” says Beth Egan, an associate professor at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School. “She rides this really interesting neutral political place.”

Robert Thompson, Trustee Professor and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, authored a piece for Fox News titled “Carrie Fisher is gone but her legacy lives on.”

“Because when you’re competing with a service like Amazon you need to be able to meet or beat their hours,” says MaryAnn Monforte, professor of accounting practice at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management.

“If you qualify, it’s a great way to get a deduction for your contribution and on top of that a tax credit.”

“Aleppo is now the symbol of how far we have retrenched,” said David M. Crane, a veteran international war crimes prosecutor and a professor at the Syracuse University College of Law. “It is part of a worldwide move away from a global village. Countries are turning back into themselves.”

“And members of the media should have thick skin; at least skin as thick as the politicians we tend to skewer on a daily basis.”

“Their passing allows us to reflect on what careers were like in previous eras — and that that kind of artist may be less and less frequent in the future.”
