From Beekeeping to Off-Road Racing: Find Your People Among the Many Recognized Student Organizations

Whenever a Syracuse University team plays inside the JMA Wireless Dome, they feed off the energy provided by Otto’s Army, the passionate group of students who transform the JMA Dome into the Loud House.

Otto’s Army is one of the nearly 375 Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) on campus. For students looking to get involved, whatever hobbies or extracurricular pursuits pique your curiosity, chances are good there’s a student organization that aligns with your interests.

One of the best resources for students looking to connect with recognized student organizations is the upcoming Fall 2025 Involvement Fair, held Sept. 9-11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Kenneth A. Shaw Quadrangle. Meet with club leaders to learn more about each organization and explore campus resources.

Take a Spin. Combat Hunger. Spread Kindness Through Letter Writing.

  • Do you have the need for speed? Members of ’Cuse Baja spend their days designing, building and testing off-road vehicles in a competition against students from other universities around the world.
  • Interested in doing your part to combat hunger in Syracuse? The Food Recovery Network at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Syracuse University is always searching for students to collect unserved dining hall food and deliver it to people in need.
  • Feeling stressed by the start of the academic year? Students with Campus Cursive at Syracuse spread love and kindness by distributing bundles of supportive handwritten letters during select times each semester, including finals.

Or check out these organizations: There’s a club for students interested in learning more about beekeeping (the Bee Club), perfumes and colognes (the Fragrance Club), remote controlled cars, drones and planes (the Orange Remote Control Association), training and raising service dogs (Service Dogs at Syracuse) and even a club dedicated to the hit CBS reality show, “Survivor” (Syrvivor).

If Greek life is for you, the University is also home to more than 50 fraternities and sororities that offer members community, scholarship, leadership and service.

Can’t find an organization that suits your interests? It’s easy to start your own. Look for like-minded people around campus and form a new way for students to get involved.
