“Artist Sam Van Aken Wants You to Taste Governors Island Apples”

An art installation created by Sam Van Aken, associate professor of studio arts in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was featured in the Curbed story “Artist Sam Van Aken Wants You to Taste Governors Island Apples.” Van Aken, who teaches sculpture, has been hoarding samples of rare fruit trees for close to a decade. These samples were used in Van Aken’s exhibition to create a way to grow the apple trees near a major city so people can easily access them.
