Shana Gadarian, professor and chair of political science in the Maxwell School, was interviewed for the Newsweek story “Biden’s Infrastructure Bill Could Change Rural America’s Alliance With GOP.” Gadarian, an expert on political public opinion, explained that President Biden’s infrastructure bill is a great achievement, as it may help shift perceptions of rural Americans about the federal government. “When people can connect good things in their lives to government action, they are more trusting of government, they are more supportive of broader and bigger government, but they have to be able to make that connection,” Gadarian said. “If you think that the government is bad and can’t be trusted, then you want to say, ‘Well, let’s devolve power down to the states.'”
