Annual Service of Commemoration Is March 22
Hendricks Chapel will host Syracuse University’s annual Service of Commemoration—honoring current students, faculty and staff; retirees; trustees; and honorary degree recipients of Syracuse University and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) who passed during the period of Jan. 1, 2021, to the present—with an in-person ceremony on Tuesday, March 22, at 4 p.m. in Hendricks Chapel. The service will also be offered on Zoom; click here to preregister. American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and Communication Access Real-Time Translation (CART) will be provided.
The names of those who have passed away will be read and candles will be lit collectively in their memory. The service will also include prayer, music and remarks.
The service is inspired by the Remembrance Scholars’ motto of “Look Back, Act Forward,” a call to action to remember those we have lost and act forward in their memory. All are welcome to attend and honor the important contributions of respected members of the University community.
