Robert Thompson, Trustee Professor of television, radio, and film in the Newhouse School and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, was quoted in the Elle (Italy) story “Abuse and humiliation, the bunnies are (finally) talking and the Playboy empire could go down forever.” Thompson, an expert on pop culture, commented on how a recent documentary explained the many problems within Playboy, a magazine and company known for its exploitation in the name of progressiveness. Thompson said “the surprise is not what we hear in this documentary,” but rather “the surprise is that anyone ever thought we would discover something different.”
