Austin Kocher, research assistant professor in the Newhouse School with the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC), was quoted in the Daily Kos story “Tens of thousands of Afghan allies are resettled throughout U.S. but still lack permanent relief.” Kocher, an expert on the U.S. immigration system, commented on the current immigration crisis facing America. Thousands of individuals from Afghanistan currently lack a pathway to qualify for permanent status within the U.S., leaving them in limbo in certain states, Kocher explained.
