NASA’s Controversy In Naming Their New Telescope

Sean O’Keefe, University Professor at the Maxwell School, was interviewed by The Atlantic for the article “This Isn’t the Big Telescope Debut NASA Imagined.”

O’Keefe, who was the NASA administrator in 2002, discussed the impact Webb, whom this new telescope is to be named after, had on the world of space. He said, “Here was somebody who was really engaged in something roughly akin to the promise of what [the space telescope] could do.”
