The White Savior Complex and Western Imperialism

Danielle Smith, professor of African American Studies and director of the Renée Crown University Honors Program in the College of Arts and Sciences, was interviewed for the Health.com story “What Is White Savior Complex and Why Is It Harmful?”

Smith discussed the white saviorism saying, “I think it’s been a fundamental underpinning of Western imperialism, and it’s been evident in the global empire-building enterprise.”
