Patrick Penfield, professor of supply chain practice and director of Executive Education in the Whitman School, was interviewed on WKRN-TV (Tennessee) for the story “Supply chain industry deals with challenge of labor shortages.” Penfield, an expert on supply chain management, commented on recent national labor shortages, which he believes may impact the upcoming holiday shopping season. “I’m very concerned. There’s a surge that usually happens during the holiday season. So your package delivery, retail folks, that’s when they do a lot of their supplemental hiring. And they need those folks just to handle the holiday purchases,” Penfield said.
