Paula Johnson, professor in the College of Law and co-director of the Cold Case Justice, was interviewed by the Beauregard Daily News for the article “‘There were higher hopes’: Did the FBI fail in trying to resolve civil rights cold cases?” Johnson, an expert on criminal law, discusses how the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act, approved by Congress in 2008, has affected a cold case that occurred in 1960. Johnson says that “in terms of criminal actions, we haven’t seen very much” resulting from the FBI’s work under the Till Act, despite the “higher hopes” for the case.
