Measuring Progress Through a Historical Context

Grant Reeher, professor of political science and director of the Campbell Public Affairs Institute in the Maxwell School, was quoted in The Hill article, “The Memo: Biden says democracies work; the US is not helping his case.”

Reeher warns against looking at things from a narrow viewpoint when it comes to political progress. He stated, “Look at where we are now, compared to 40 or 80 or 130 years ago in terms of democratic inclusion. It is just impossible to sustain the view that we have gone backwards.”
