Staff from the United Way of Central New York and Otto the Orange visited the Westcott Community Center in Syracuse recently to make a special delivery of hundreds of protective face masks for local senior citizens participating in the Westcott Senior Services program.

Mask giveaway with Otto

Staff from United Way of CNY and Otto the Orange participate in the mask giveaway.

The distribution was made possible by the generous donation of nearly 3,000 Syracuse University branded face masks and gaiters by Syracuse University licensee Colosseum Apparel.

“We are so appreciative of this generous donation from Colosseum Apparel and our longtime community partner, Syracuse University,” says Nancy Kern Eaton, president of United Way of Central New York. “United Way of Central New York is honored to share this much-needed PPE with the many local agencies and programs we support throughout Onondaga County.”

“For nearly five decades, Syracuse University has supported the United Way of Central New York through our yearly campuswide fundraising campaign, which is underway right now,” says Ryan Williams, vice president of enrollment management and co-chair of the 2021 Syracuse University campaign. “The United Way is a trusted partner. It made perfect sense to connect United Way with Colosseum to supply face masks to members of our community.”

“Colosseum is very excited to partner with Syracuse University to support the local community through a mask and gaiter donation to United Way of Central New York,” says Kelsey Keene, director of licensing and corporate social responsibility at Colosseum Athletics.

Throughout the month, United Way of Central New York will continue to distribute masks to many of the local programs and initiatives supported by United Way.
