“They Can’t Hold The Nursing Homes Responsible”

Nina Kohn, the David M. Levy Professor of Law and faculty director of online education in the College of Law, was interviewed by The Daily Poster for the story “They Can’t Hold The Nursing Homes Responsible.” Kohn, an expert in elder law and aging, says that New York State’s imposed liability shield might not have been as big of a problem if the government had been enforcing its rules. However, this was not the case, and many lobbyists put the safety of the elderly at risk. “There is such bipartisan willingness to sacrifice the lives of vulnerable older adults,” Kohn says.
