Patrick Penfield, professor of supply chain practice and director of executive education in the Whitman School, was interviewed for the Denver Post business article “Wheels of commerce are rolling, but COVID-19 fallout still causing kinks in supply chain.” Penfield, who studies supply chains, says that many U.S. companies are still facing staff shortages due to workers being infected with COVID, which has caused certain items to be in short demand. “Consumers were saving money during the pandemic (if they were working) and are now looking for things to go back to normal and want to buy products,” Penfield says, which means other items may soon be in demand.
