“Farm, Food Workers Lagging When It Comes To COVID Vaccinations.”
Laura-Anne Minkoff-Zern, associate professor of food studies in Falk College, was interviewed for the Pacific Northwest Ag Network podcast “Farm, Food Workers Lagging When It Comes To COVID Vaccinations.” Minkoff-Zern, an expert on interactions between food and social justice, says that while it is important to vaccinate many specific populations, without vaccinating farm and food workers there could be food shortages. She explains that many food workers are also from immigrant communities, which have been particularly impacted by the pandemic. “I think unfortunately the populations that are the most vulnerable, especially our immigrant populations…are also those that have the least access to the internet, that have the last access to this kind of information that they need to make the right decisions for their health and their family,” Minkoff-Zern says.
