Activities for the Weekend of Feb. 25-28

Thursday, February 25, 2021, By News Staff

Dear Students and Families:

As we enter the final days of February, I am writing to share our weekly update about activities on the calendar this weekend. The team and I are grateful for your continued participation; these events and activities have been well attended every weekend throughout the semester thus far. Please do not hesitate to email the Office of Student Activities if you have suggestions or requests for activities. We are always open to your ideas and recommendations.

Before I share the weekend activities, I want to share two important reminders:

  1. Testing Is Mandatory for Any Student Accessing Campus: Any student who is accessing campus—for whatever reason and regardless of how infrequently—must comply with the weekly testing regimen. This includes those students whose classes are solely online this semester but visit campus to use the dining facilities, fitness centers or other campus resources. Individuals, whether remote students or students who live off campus, are prohibited from accessing campus buildings and facilities without participating in the COVID surveillance testing program. Failure to be tested as required will result in consequences, as previously communicated.
  2. Going on Pause: Recently, New York State updated its guidance for when colleges and universities must go “on pause” because of COVID infections on campus. Syracuse University is no longer subject to the 100-case limit within a two-week period. Both the limit and the time period were changed. The limit is now 5 percent of the total on-campus population. At Syracuse University, this is approximately 880 individuals. The applicable time period is the last 14 calendar days and resets each day. To be clear: we will not allow our campus to get anywhere close to the 880-case threshold to take action. In the event that we have emerging clusters of positive cases or community spread, we will take proactive public health measures, which may include pausing in-person activities. Please remain vigilant and committed to the health and safety of yourself and those around you.
