“De Blasio gives “credit” to Democrat for not backing down from governor.”

Nina Kohn, the David M. Levy Professor of Law and faculty director of online education in the College of Law, was interviewed by WPIX-TV (New York City) for the story “De Blasio gives “credit” to Democrat for not backing down from governor.” It was recently discovered that New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo improperly reported information regarding COVID 19 cases at nursing homes in the state, causing statewide upset. Kohn, an expert on elder law, says that part of the reason these oversights happened is because there is a liability shield protecting nursing homes. “It protects the entire corporate chain, and it protects them from civil and criminal liability,” Kohn says, also noting that “it protects them from any liability for shortages in resources or staff.”
