Robert Nassau, director of the Low Income Taxpayer Clinic and teaching professor in the College of Law, was quoted in the ProPublica article “The IRS Cashed Her Check. Then the Late Notices Started Coming.” Nassau, who also serves as associate director of the Office of Clinical Legal Education, says that the IRS notice system has become somewhat of a nightmare experience for many taxpayers during the pandemic. “You might get a letter today that’s dated in October. The whole collection apparatus is screwed up, for the time being,” says Nassau.
