“Why the US is eyeing a $300 monthly child benefit.”

Katherine Michelmore, assistant professor of public administration in the Maxwell School, was quoted in the BBC story “Why the US is eyeing a $300 monthly child benefit.” The article discusses how the U.S. is considering a monthly child benefit, which is a positive shift in helping reduce child poverty. Michelmore, who studies family policy and labor economics, comments on how many children, the majority of whom are poor, Black or Hispanic, do not currently receive the full tax benefit. After studying the issue extensively, Michelmore says “there’s just a lot of kids that don’t get the credit.”
