Laura-Anne Minkoff-Zern, associate professor of food studies in Falk College, was interviewed by Capital Press for the story “Latino couple goes from farm workers to farm owners.” Minkoff-Zern, an expert on food and labor and farm workers, says that most farm owners start by renting or leasing land, but even this initial step can be challenging. “Farmworkers are against what seems like all odds owning or managing farms in the U.S.,” says Minkoff-Zern.
