The Orange community is invited to enjoy winter and experience a variety of exciting programs and events. Explore other opportunities to build your unique Syracuse University student experience with the Be Involved Checklist.

“Programs and events welcome all skill levels and often include everything needed to participate. We’ve worked to support students’ experiences in a way that after making a reservation, they just have to focus on having fun,” shares Scott Catucci, Barnes Center at The Arch associate director for outdoor adventure, esports and student development. “With a variety of opportunities throughout the Spring 2021 semester, we encourage students to explore programs, events and to try new experiences.”

Adventure-Based Counseling Series
Gain leadership skills, build self-esteem, make connections and more! Learn more about this free opportunity and apply in the Wellness Portal by Monday, Feb. 15, 2021.

Cross Country Skiing and Snow Shoeing at Drumlins Country Club
Hosted weekends and only minutes away from campus, all experience levels are welcome. Reservation information and complete details are available within the Wellness Portal. Reservations include free equipment and a basic technique orientation, and some include transportation from campus to Drumlins Country Club.

Spring 2021 Outdoor Adventure Trips
Get off campus and explore Central New York with a variety of trips throughout the semester! All experience levels are welcome. Reservation information and complete details are available within the Wellness Portal. Check back often for new opportunities.

  • Hiking (Explore beautiful views and relax in nature with welcoming opportunities for all.)
  • Snow Tubing

SoulSearch Day Retreats
Escape the winter weather during SoulSearch Day Retreats available throughout the Spring 2021 semester. Through activities SoulSearch hosts opportunities to rekindle a sense of belonging while building self-awareness with a focus on authenticity and mindfulness. These free retreats include meals and transportation. The deadline to apply for the SoulSearch Day Retreat Saturday, March 6, 2021, is Friday, Feb. 19, 2021.

  • Play Sled Hockey Lessons (Registration Deadline: Friday, Feb. 19, 2021)
  • Stick and Puck (Practice Ice Hockey skating, shooting and stick skills.)

“Whether you’re looking to try something new, build your skills or relax with friends in a fun atmosphere, there’s truly something for everyone at the Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion,” says Aaron Landers, programming coordinator of the Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion.
