Austin Kocher, research assistant professor with the Transactional Research Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) in the Newhouse School, was quoted by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution for the story “Cobb, Gwinnett end 287(g) immigration programs, work to build trust.” Kocher, who specializes in immigration research for TRAC, says that the program is about politics rather than safety, which is detrimental to immigrants. Kocher says “the 287(g) program is a failure” as there is a “pattern and practice of racial profiling.”
