“New ‘Star Wars’ rumor says a sequel trilogy reboot will include unused footage of Han, Leia and Luke.”

Kendall Phillips, professor of communication and rhetorical studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was quoted in the Deseret News story “New ‘Star Wars’ rumor says a sequel trilogy reboot will include unused footage of Han, Leia and Luke.” Phillips, an expert on pop culture, says that it is completely possible that the rumors are true, as it can be difficult for studios to find the right fit with someone new to an iconic role. “There is no doubt that — not all the time but at least sometimes — that is a studio saying, ‘Is it worth trying to get you know Hugh Jackman to play this role? We’ll see what the fan reaction is,” says Phillips.
