Corri Zoli, research assistant professor of political science in the Maxwell School and director of research at The Institute for Security Policy and Law, was quoted in the South China Morning Post article “Biden inauguration: New US president pledges to unify a tense, divided nation while fighting pandemic.” Zoli says that Biden’s inauguration day speech helped instill messages of unity in listeners who may have doubted him. “He referenced the depth of his commitment to the nation (Constitution, etc,) by using Lincoln’s commitment ‘by his very soul’ to the Emancipation Proclamation – important for those who worry Biden is not up to the task,” Zoli says.
