Arlene Kanter writes “What a day to recognize people with disabilities should mean to us all.”

Arlene Kanter, professor in the College of Law, wrote an op-ed for syracuse.com titled “What a day to recognize people with disabilities should mean to us all.” Kanter, who is the founder and director of the Disability Law and Policy Program, says Americans “still have a way to go” when it comes to supporting the rights of peoples with disabilities. Kanter argues that December 3, the International Day of People with Disabilities according to The United Nation, should serve as a time of reflection for how to better welcome people with disabilities into society. “People with disabilities are not “them;” they are “us,”” says Kanter.
