Afton Kapuscinski, assistant teaching professor in the College of Arts and Sciences and director of the Psychological Services Center, was interviewed for the USA Today article “Election 2020: Terrified to lose and afraid to hope.” The COVID-19 pandemic and 2020 election have caused anxiety and fear for many and Kapuscinski thinks that “people believe that the outcome of this election is going to have a serious effect on their lives, and I think beyond that, on their safety.” “They’re concerned that some of the things that they hold most meaningful are threatened. Although the specific concerns do differ based on political leaning, the feelings that are coming up don’t,” says Kapuscinski.
