Shana Kushner Gadarian, associate professor of political science in the Maxwell School, was quoted in The Atlantic piece “Why Many White Men Love Trump’s Coronavirus Response.” Recent surveys show that more than 80 percent of Republicans support President Trump’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gadarian, an expert on political public opinion, says that some people may not understand the scope of the failures of Trump’s response because it “might require intimate knowledge of other countries’ public-health systems—a tall order for the average person.”
