“SU Professor Challenges Recent “Censorship” by Social Media.”
Roy Gutterman, associate professor of magazine, news and digital journalism in the Newhouse School and director of the Tully Center for Free Speech, was interviewed by WAER for the story “SU Professor Challenges Recent “Censorship” by Social Media.” Facebook and Twitter recently limited access to an article containing unverified sources and information about Joe Biden’s son. Gutterman, an expert on communications law, says the action isn’t defined as censorship yet it is still a controversial choice. “Regardless of how you feel about the story, its sourcing, or even the politics behind it, it’s not a favored practice for many of us to have other people decide what we can and can’t read or view,” says Gutterman.
