Dear Students:

We have exactly 40 days until Thanksgiving break. While we’ve made it past the halfway point of the semester, I can’t stress enough how important it is for you to make good choices, stay vigilant and not let your guard down. Unfortunately, in recent weeks, we experienced a significant spike in COVID-19 cases. As Vice Chancellor J. Michael Haynie shared yesterday, 79 percent of all COVID-19 cases are the result of travel outside of Central New York, off-campus living and off-campus gatherings and activities, including at Greek houses.

Make Good Choices; Keep Those Around You Safe!

The fact is keeping yourself and our community safe is simple. Just take these easy, selfless actions:

  • No Gatherings of More Than Five People: Do not host or participate in gatherings of more than five Students who host or participate in gatherings of five or more people (excluding their roommates) will be immediately referred to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
  • Visitors Prohibited: Do not invite family or friends from outside Central New York, including those who are close to Syracuse, to visit.
  • Stay in Central New York: Do not travel to other colleges or universities, even if they are close to Syracuse.
  • Masks: Wear your mask or face covering, always!
  • Flu Shot: Get your flu vaccination as soon as possible.
  • Physically Distance: Maintain 6 feet of distance.
  • Proper Hygiene: Wash your hands often.
