Jennifer Grygiel, assistant professor of communications in the Newhouse School, was quoted in The Washington Post story “Trump’s video prompts green screen speculation, online skepticism.” A video that President Trump posted to Twitter caused many to think it was shot on a green screen rather than the South Lawn of the White House. Grygiel, a social media expert, knows the video was not faked but thinks it’s good that social media users are evaluating Trump’s posts skeptically. Grygiel notes that messages from government officials on social media do not get fact-checked by the press, so it is essential for people to push for information to be vetted.
