Shannon Monnat, associate professor of sociology and Lerner Chair for Public Health Promotion in the Maxwell School, was quoted in the CNN story “The 2020 census: Tech issues, angry neighbors and bad data.” The 2020 Census has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and many fear that this has led to flawed data collection. “The Census is the most important data in our country. Census data matter more than any other data that are collected by anyone in the US. A 2020 Census failure is a failure for the whole country,” says Monnat.
