Francine D’Amico, teaching professor of international relations in the Maxwell School, was interviewed for the Christian Science Monitor story “At UN assembly quieted by a pandemic, the US-China clash is loud.” In the most recent U.N. meeting, Secretary-General António Guterres said the world was at “another 1945 moment” with the pandemic affecting the entire world. D’Amico, a specialist in the U.N. and international institutions, says she thinks “he was saying the international community needs to act as it did in 1945, when it came together and established the first truly global institution.”
