Update on Day Hall Floor 8 COVID-19 Testing

Dear Students, Faculty, Staff and Families:

This evening, we received the results from yesterday’s COVID-19 testing that the Public Health Team administered to the students living on Day Hall Floor 8. I am pleased to share there are no new confirmed cases of COVID-19. As a result, we have notified the students living on Day Hall Floor 8 that they may exit the precautionary quarantine and resume their daily activities.

Out of an abundance of caution, we continue to encourage all other Day Hall residents (excluding those living on the eighth floor) to undergo surveillance testing. Many students have already done so, and we will continue to make testing available to these students and any staff who may have interacted with Day Hall Floor 8 residents.

We appreciate the urgent way our students responded to our call to action. Each of them quickly returned to their rooms, underwent testing and complied with and followed the direction of our public health experts. It’s yet another reminder that our students want to be here and will take the necessary steps to make that goal achievable.

I continue to be proud of the way our community is coming together to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our campus. Let’s keep it going. Remember to take these simple steps:

  • Wear your mask.
  • Keep your distance.
  • Steer clear of large gatherings.
  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid travel outside of Central New York.
  • Stay home if you feel sick.
