Whitney Phillips, assistant professor in the Department of Communication and Rhetorical Studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was interviewed for the Salon article “Trump campaign pushes bogus conspiracy theories and misinformation as Joe Biden leads in the polls.” Phillips, who is an expert on disinformation and political communication, says that it is easy for disinformation to “travel so quickly through so many different communities and does so many unintentional things before you can even do a fact-check.”
