Robert Thompson, Trustee Professor of television, radio and film in the Newhouse School and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, was quoted in the Popular Science story “Why do we love game shows like ‘Jeopardy’ so much?” Thompson, who is an expert on television and pop culture, says that the main reason society loves games shows so much is because viewers are able to relate to contestants in a “well, it could be me” manner.
